Scott Chacon delivered the talk “From Github to Chatterbug: Lessons Learned by an Accidental Entrepreneur” at the Codemotion Berlin 2019 conference. We interviewed him, asking these questions: in your talk you define yourself as an “accidental entrepreneur”, since your project – GitHub – started as a small (but nice) idea. What are the main advantages in following such kind of entrepreneurial path? What are the most common mistakes one should avoid when trying to grow his own (small) project and bring it to a company-like level? What kind if competences and skills are you using in Chatterbug? Did you use any specific tools to acquire these skills? what was the skills acquisition process like? What tips would you give to potential entrepreneurs?
