Creators and users of cloud-based solutions need to be aware of potential IP issues, particularly those that may be prompted by “patent assertion entities” whose aim is to acquire patents and capture revenues from them, without actually using them in manufacturing processes. This is especially true as open source takes on an increasingly dominant role in the development of cloud-based solutions. This session will examine the IP risks facing businesses and developers, and also consider the various risk mitigation strategies they might deploy to protect their cloud-based operations.
