Live Coding 2D Animation with Animatron
About

Animatron is an experimental environment (very much “work in progress”) that
enables creation of “visual poetry” in the form of animations and images, created
in real-time through live coding. It’s implemented using the open-source Godot game engine, and communicates with any “client” application or live coding language — such as SuperCollider — via the network, using the Open Sound Control (OSC) protocol and MIDI.
The OSC interface has been designed to be extendable using OSC itself. All configuration files and custom commands are lists of OSC messages. Everything in Animatron is done through OSC using it as a proto-livecoding language.

Roger Pibernat
artistFreelance
Roger Pibernat is an illustrator and musician with a severe tinkering itch. He was part of the Barcelona Laptop Orchestra and co-founded the Wú collective, with whom he has developed electro-acoustic instruments and experimental software. He’s the developer of the live coding embeded domain specific language for SuperCollider (Živa). He is currently an active member of the live coding community in Barcelona. In all of his inventions, he tries to find ways to connect apparently unrelated systems, making things talk. Teaming up with artist and programer Glen Fraser, they have developed Anima- tron as a playground for performatic and improvisational visual poetry with 2D animation.
