Red Hat OpenShift is a k8s distribution offering a rich ecosystem of operators that can easily manage the creation of resources and add new functionalities to the cluster. In this talk, we will focus on the RedHat Pipelines and Service Mesh operators. We will create a continuous integration and continuous delivery pipeline with Tekton for deploying an application directly into the OpenShift Service Mesh and we will cover some of the major features and benefits of the mesh, such as traffic management, security and telemetry.

Nonostante si possano utilizzare supporti hardware sempre migliori, incrementare le prestazioni del software è ancora un punto di attenzione. In questo scenario, il modello di programmazione asincrona non bloccante risulta essere una soluzione efficiente per evitare colli di bottiglia. In questa sessione sarà introdotto Spring WebFlux, un framework per lo sviluppo di servizi e applicazioni web basati su Java che semplifica lo sviluppo di applicazioni asincrone e non bloccanti.

From monolith to microservices then to micro frontends, applications have become more specialized and the final composition more complex. The use of a platform then becomes a critical aid to enable the full application development life cycle by leveraging the ability to distribute and share application components. What if the developer of tomorrow has to become a “contributing developer”? What if the future is composable?

Con l'adozione di architetture Kubernetes, gli sviluppatori e IT operators hanno a disposizione l’infrastruttura necessaria ad accelerare la messa in produzione di nuovi servizi enterprise. In questo contesto, è essenziale creare un modello di interazione tra team, tool e componenti architetturali che abiliti un approccio unificato al ciclo di vita delle applicazioni e che possa coprire piattaforme eterogenee (on-prem, hybrid e cloud). In questo talk proponiamo una modalità di applicazione di paradigmi “shift left” atta a garantire maggiore sicurezza senza sacrificare la velocità di rilascio.

GitOps provides a lot of advantages. We have a single source of truth of the desired state, automated sync, drift detection and reconciliation, and so on. However, our manifests are still too complex for everyone to understand. They tend to describe Kubernetes resources instead of applications. On the other hand, the tools that do treat applications as applications instead of resources, tend to be focused mostly on CLI and UI, often ignoring the need to define everything as code. Can we combine both? Can we have application specs that are easy for developers to understand, write, and manage?
